We can't solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them
My name is Janice and I am a fully qualified, experienced cognitive behavioural therapist, (CBT) and a member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I have experience working with adults, young people and children.
My private practice is in the centre of Coventry, near the train station. I offer a safe, non-judgmental environment. Do you feel no-one understands? Feeling anxious or depressed? Do you just want to make sense of your life? I work on a one-to-one basis and help people make sense of these feelings.
The first session will be an assessment and together we will set a plan to achieve your goal. In addition to my private practice, I work within the voluntary sector and schools covering areas such as bereavement, anxiety, depression, trauma, sexual abuse, self-harm and suicidal ideation.
To assist clients I work some mornings, late afternoons and evenings.
Where I Am Based
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is an approach to Counselling and in this kind of counselling the therapist will be more directive to keep the therapy moving towards clients selected goals. Each session is 50 minutes
Anxiety – Anxiety is what we feel when we are afraid, worried or tense. Anxiety is a natural human response and a little anxiety in your daily life is helpful. Counselling will help you explore your thoughts and feelings .
Depression – Depression can be a sadness that does not go away and stops you doing what you once enjoyed. We will work together to make sense of your depression, identifying your thoughts and patterns of behaviour and in time being able to leave your depression behind.
Bereavement – Bereavement is one of the greatest sorrows that can happen. There is no right or wrong way to feel. You might feel you are having a good day, then feel worse the following day. It’s like being on a beach, standing in water up to your knees, feeling you can cope, when a big wave knocks you off your feet. I can support you on your journey.
